Our Suffolk self-catering holiday cottage has recently undergone a high standard refurbishment, with central heating, a water softener and two log burners, this seaside cottage is available for letting all year round. The period cottage offers comfort and tranquillity in an unspoilt, rarely found riverside location.
Situated on Bawdsey Quay, in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the banks of the River Deben,
this self catering Suffolk holiday cottage has access to a sandy beach within a hundred yards. From Easter until November, a traditional ferry for foot passengers and cyclists runs between Bawdsey Quay and Old Felixstowe, where fresh fish, lobster and crab can be bought. Two Martello Towers, which were part of the old Napoleonic defences still remain on the riverbank and can be viewed from the quay and the back garden of the cottage.

Sailing & power boat tuition is available here at Bawdsey Quay,
with a slipway for private use of small sailing dinghies (fees apply). Bawdsey Quay Watersports Centre has a variety of craft available for use during powerboating courses, including a 5m semi-rigid inflatable with a 40hp engine. Take a boat trip down the River Deben, right from your doorstep!
Harbour Master John White runs regular boat trips from the quay side right outside your front door. With a 1 hour trip down the river to Ramsholt and longer trips available by prior arrangement, you don't even have to own a boat to enjoy the beauty of the River Deben. The Boathouse Cafe - just 100 metres away!
Over the boathouse is the Boathouse Cafe, a unique hideaway right at the mouth of the River Deben, on a stretch of the Suffolk coast rich in history and wildlife. The picturesque wooden building has a veranda with breathtakingly wide river views. The Boathouse cafe is run by Diane Clouting, whose passion for home cooking and locally sourced food has made it into a favourite haven for Bawdsey regulars and visitors.
