Closeby is Bawdsey Radar Station, where Watson Watt developed and perfected radar. Transmitter blocks, receiver blocks and underground bunkers still remain. It is open to the public on certain days from April-September.

The holiday cottage is well positioned for visiting the unspoilt town of Woodbridge with its traditional shops, cinema and a variety of cafes, restaurants and pubs. The historic site of Sutton Hoo, Framingham Castle, and Orford Keep are short car journeys away. Other places of interest are Snape Maltings (the most visited place in Suffolk) with its concert hall and annual Aldeburgh Festival (plus other events) also has a pub, tearoom, and various shops including antiques, paintings, individual precious metal jewellery, pottery and crafts. Aldeburgh, Southwold and Thorpeness with a large boating lake suitable for children, all have their individual charm.

For those interested in playing golf, there is a links course at Felixstowe (a short ferry ride across the river) and several golf courses in and around Woodbridge which are open to visitors.

The Ramsholt Arms is within easy access, and with its fabulous riverside location is a must for visitors. Offering good food and drink all year round, serving a varied menu, including local freshly caught fish, crab, lobster and game from local shoots. For bookings telephone 01394 411229.

There is a large antiques centre in Yoxford, with antique shops in Woodbridge, Snape Maltings, Framlingham and a little further afield at Long Melford. You may find that elusive treasure that has escaped you yet!

Weekly auctions are held nearby at Campsea Ashe every Monday, with viewing on Saturday morning from 8.30am until 11.00am. There is also a market selling general items and locally caught game, and farm produce.

With lovely coastal and riverside walks, literally on your doorstep, plus cycling and a variety of wildlife to observe, including Marsh Harriers, Barn Owls, many types of wading birds and deer this setting will offer both activity and tranquillity leaving you with a desire to return.
